Beat the Heat: Prepare Your Home for Rising Temperatures
Excessive heat can make your home a miserable and dangerous place to be
Killer Heat
Unlike other types of weather damage, extreme heat does not cause sudden or dramatic harm to your home directly (though it can damage the outside of your home over time: paint can bubble and chip, siding can shrink and crack, roofing can warp, and foundations can shift).
Instead, the immediate danger it to the people inside.
Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot
Exposure to high temperatures can lead to heat stroke, dehydration, and other serious health problems. If the body heats up too much without being able to cool down, then it can result in damage to the internal organs, and in extreme cases, death.
Everyone is susceptible to heat-related illness, though the elderly, young children, people with mental illnesses, and people with chronic diseases are especially vulnerable.
